Our beloved Church is in crisis. Did you know that current estimates indicate that only 2% of our Catholic Secondary School children practice the faith after they leave secondary school?
The prime reason for the existence of our Catholic Schools is to pass on the Catholic faith to the next generation of Catholics. Therefore, the utter failure of BCE hierarchy to meet their prime objective should have resulted in their sacking years ago!
BCE's main excuse is that the parents of the students have lost their faith, so naturally their children will have no faith. However, BCE's failure has been 50 years in the making, so the children being failed since the mid-60s are now the nominal Catholic parents of today! Some 80% of our current Catholic teachers no longer practice the Catholic faith. It is impossible to convince anyone of the truth of a faith you yourself no longer believe. We maintain that a properly formed in the faith independent minded teenager, who sees the truth and mind-boggling wonder of Christ’s One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, will still naturally want to give this 'no price too high' treasure to their beloved nominal Catholic parents!
Imagine if our Catholic schools were to reach their full potential for Christ. Imagine our children and grandchildren being empowered to combat the false claims of militant atheism, the hostile media, secular culture, clerical sexual scandle, corrupting TV presentations and internet pornography and by learning the reasons and evidence (Apologetics) for the truth that resides in the Catholic church; Christ's One Holy and Apostolic Church.
Imagine them discovering the reality of God and His amazing love that led God Himself to suffer that horrible death to rescue us; His awful Justice where, on the one hand, unchecked sloth and sin risk fearful consequences, whereas, on the other hand, in addition to eternal life, Christ grants divine eternal rewards to those who dare go 'the extra mile'. (CCC1021 in the current 1992 Catechism of the Catholic Church.)
BCE deterioration has NOT been a sudden occurrence. Members of our group have requested effective remedial action from subsequent Archbishops since 1972! These Archbishops have been unable or unwilling to confront the problem presided over by the now entrenched hierarchy in Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE). The situation has long been at crisis levels, our group now realises we cannot encourage our current Archbishop to take effective action without serious prayer and action support from you; the remnant of faithful Catholics still attending Sunday Mass.
