Slavery on the way back?

Dear Sir
Daily we see vociferous representatives claiming that people who happen to be of a certain colour should pay reparations for slavery to people of a different colour.
That is, there are activists (many of whom are quite well-fed) who want money without working for it.
To be paid by people who offended no one, yet who must work while the products of their labour go to the first group.
In the words of Dinesh D'Souza, you work, I eat.
It seems to me that the pro-reparations people are trying to reinstitute slavery. I thought Americans had a war to deal with that. And British taxpayers were still paying the price as recently as 10 years ago.
Whatever happened to the idea of getting a job to feed yourself?
