The brown scapular

Dear Australian Bishops

When I was in the third grade at a Melbourne Catholic school, the student population was marched to the parish church, where they were given a brown scapular, and then enrolled.  From that time I have worn the scapular.

Since then I have heard nothing from bishops and priests about the scapular, even though wearing it at death ensures salvation.

Sure, we are not obliged to believe in private revelation, but what have we to lose by wearing the scapular?  Since the Church approves the devotion, it would seem irresponsible to reject it.

So my question is this:  how many people have been damned who could have been saved by wearing the scapular?

Given the terrible and permanent nature of damnation, how would our Divine Judge view the soul of a priest or bishop who failed to promote this wonderful offer from Our Blessed Mother in his role as shepherd of the Lord's flock?
